The Company
The Architech Group was established in 1986. It is recipient of Alhambra the Beautiful Design Award in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2000. Some of its works were published in the prestigious Designer’s West magazine, the Reader’s Weekly and Japan’s PopEye magazine.
The firm is currently engaged in a wide variety of projects, ranging from custom homes, corporate offices, commercial renovations, senior housing, apartments, to a mix-used development with 7-story 150 condo units near downtown L. A.
Principal
Yung Kao, AIA is founding principal of the Architech Group. Yung is an architect registered with the States of California, Nevada, Hawaii and Texas. He received a Masters Degree in Architecture and a Masters Degree in City Planning, both from the University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Kao was a Design Review Commissioner for the City of Monterey Park from 1989 to 1991. He served on the Design Review Board for the City of Alhambra from 1993 to 2001, including two terms as the chairperson. He has been on the Advisory Council for the East L. A. College Department of Architecture since 1992.
Yung is a nationally recognized expert in building codes. He is author of several code sections in the 1997 Uniform Building Code, and the 2000 and the 2003 International Building Code. From 2001 to 2003 he served on the ICBO’s national committee for Special Inspectors Certification Exams in welding, high-strength bolting, masonry and spray-applied fireproofing.
